We are passionate about innovating to create teas and infusions to delight people, inspired by their ever-evolving needs. Our Master Blenders, our guardians of quality and taste, have more than two and a half centuries of expertise between them, which they draw on to develop blends with our Research and Innovation team and expert Herbalist. We are committed to making wellbeing enjoyable and accessible for everyone, conducting our business with integrity and responsibility, while also working hard to help to facilitate healthier communities and minimise our environmental impact. All towards our vision of playing a leading role in creating a thriving and progressive tea and herbs sector.
Our history
It all began in a coffee house and dry tea shop on the Strand in London in 1706. Ambitious owner, Thomas Twining, started selling fine quality tea, as a way to stand out from the thousands of coffee houses in the British capital. Tea was increasingly fashionable, and soon Thomas was selling more dry tea than wet, both to other coffee houses and wealthy households. The world has changed a lot in the centuries since then – but the shop is still there and so is our passion and commitment for producing quality teas and infusions. In 2016, we launched our Sourced with Care programme aiming to help improve people’s lives in the communities that grow our tea and herbs. Since then, we have expanded the programme to include the wider environmental, social and governance issues that matter to us and our stakeholders, launching our evolved sustainability strategy in 2025.
Where we source our ingredients
Our network of tea suppliers spans seven countries, and our herbs are sourced from up to 60. By building transparent supply chains, we aim to help improve the lives of the people behind every drink.
